I feel exactly like this, the sense that the people involve know exactly the level damage they are creating but cannot stop themselves from moving forward. Cue the faux shock when the damage they definitely predicted is as bad as it seems. Great essay!
"Step by step this boy met a world of perfect strangers in my full house of laugh track escapism." Clever, and starting with that, I thought I knew what the jokes would be - turns out it was deeper than that with the AI metaphor, and still fun to read to boot. Excellent.
