Love those photos. Beautiful! Been here longer than any place I’ve lived, nearly 20 years. I rarely find myself arguing with anyone’s criticism of LA. For all its flaws, I know I’ll miss it whenever I move away.
...it is so much!...i think that is why it brings so much criticism...it literally contains a country inside of itself...took me awhile to get it...thank you for checking this out!!...
Beautiful - both the prose and the photos. I've barely been to Los Angeles, spent less than a week there in total but I've always loved the versions I've seen in reel - the bright sepia day Angeles and the neon lit noir night Angeles. Watching noir la is amongst my favorite reel city vibes along with crazy Florida or professional new York. Your photos capture the desolate noir perfectly ( in my head)
Once again your photography is compelling and beautiful and sometimes surreal. I find myself wanting to write captions for a lot of these. Mostly I feel a certain mood that you captured. There is art in every image you created. Light on a wall making me see either a portrait of someone, or a bear getting their tea leaves read. Reflections in unconventional pools. Promoting even the industrial waste to look somehow polished. Magic. You do well capturing it with your special eyes. Love these all.
Isn't it weird that cities built on that grid system of squares
Cardinal direction grid: Wide streets and terraces align with the cardinal directions (north, south, east, and west).
grid pattern draws inspiration from various city plans, including Ancient Greek and Italian Renaissance templates, as well as American cities like Philadelphia and Savanna.
It has a strange effect I have researched, convenient but humans are not really built for squares originally.
…that is interesting…i wonder if it has to do with mapmaking or measurement…i was staring at skyscrapers the other day thinking why just that over and over again…call me a prude but so often those with resources create in depressingly uninspired methods (see all art successful at commerce and skyscrapers)…what would a world built to look like chaotic nature look like?…anyhow i guess i am more of a circle person than a squiggly line person so even i have work to do…waiting for the weather to cool so i might take further expeditions into more places i don’t go enough…the summer is sexy but it bakes my curiosity…
Some seriously good photos here. I love the Virgin of Guadalupe one. That would make a wonderful print.
"All of Kansas should be sold to Australia" -- HAHA!
…i feel bad about that but then also sell high…
I have no bad feelings about this. hahahahha
…lol…kansas you are done…
beautiful, my friend
…thank you brother…
I like your take on (one of) my hometown(s) CansaFis. As so often with you, an unexpected and yet simultaneously an entirely true perspective.
…it took me awhile to see the splendor in the sprawl…lots to love there…
Jim Morrison was right--it's the City of Lost Angels . . .
…there is a movie called los angeles plays itself i big time rec :)…
Thanks! I'll check it out!
Excellence

I just wish the world went with Nouveau but thats me.
the world chose two dollar Art Deco movment.
Its merely representative of the Silicon chip motherboard design of cities.
The grand chessboard easier to play with squares in the control of human beings.
Los Angeles are Babylonian
...crumbling crusty beauty and life hidden amongst hundreds of miles of miles...took a long time for me to see it's gorgeous...
and now you've teased the gorgeous out of the miles so we can see it here
