“It is better to be looked over than overlooked.”
-Mae West-
I spend some mornings staring at the sunrise from the eastside of the bay. From the point of Pinole down to the marsh of Coyote Hills, I watch westward. With a clear sky I can see the cities. Tiny cars on bony bridges. The mountain Tamalpais. Abandoned or occupied prisons and parks. An island called Angel.
Brine and pebble. Fence and powerline. Charred maroon metal. Curled eyelid woods. It is imaginary and real just the same.
I know the birds by their names, but not by their species. We caw caw to each other. At least I think we do. I acknowledge. I hear them. They crow and cackle. They flutter. They see me. At least I think they do.
I spend some evenings staring at the sunset from the eastside of the bay. X-Ray landfill covered in collapsed cables and concrete. A horseless horse track. Camperless tents. Undecipherable sprayed paint around posed coin slot figurines.
I feel the cut of stick and poke on my ankles. Clever slivers sneaking into the corners of my boot mouth. The scent is sand. Fresh blacktop holding bored white squares to train the rookie bike cops. Neon vests laughing before they start to dig.
The shade slips to sleep on the hills. Reflections of orange peel and barbie pink rose light. The baby blue eats its greens. These pictures take the words right out of my mouth.
I do this.
Over and Over.
I see this.
Over and Over.
I feel this.
Over and Over.
It’s never the same.
Over and Over.
Over and Over.
Over and Over.

…special thanks to & for taking the time to help me curate…there is probably way too many photos here but just know there were way too many more to get where we ended up…
Would like to see more photos - favorites: Under the heading of West, the flock of birds in front of the cityscape and under Shore, the tunnel photo.
Your photos are stunning, especially the birds ones... I take heaps of the sea and birds on my daily dog walks, but they don't look anywhere near as good as yours... thank you SO much for sharing 🥰
