That Jane Swithy story fits the mold of American Apocrypha, the kind skilled journalists could reconstruct from old newspapers in the abandoned library of a decrepit town.
Or something only a skilled storyteller could concoct!
...this is a useful task for A.I. --> search the entirety of small town americana newspapers and give us our most inspiring tales of idiocy, verve and uniqueness...if we are to rehash and repeat our steps, let us at least choose the funniest ones...
