“Everything is a self-portrait. Everything is a diary.”
-Chuck Palahniuk-
I’m not a man who likes looking at himself.
I’m not afraid. I’m not concerned. I’m not upset.
I just have to live with myself. I live with my me-me every day. Living with more of myself is not on my list of things to do-do.
I prefer to live in the lives of others.
I want to be more than me.
Beyond my me.
Maybe other than me?
I’m not certain on the latter, the former, the other or the same.
I am open for the challenge.
That what I am not, I might be.
That what I might be, I might beyond.
I was equal parts horrified and inspired by friend-writers
& for their forays into “facing the music” recently. By facing the music I mean embracing faces. By embracing faces I mean this poorly told gif from the documentary “Aliens”.*editor’s note :: facehuggers should be way cuter*
Charlie D. Becker has a new face.
He loves it. His love for his face makes me love the idea of loving my face. Over 140+ people found this linked article inspiring (+me +1).
Please read it & join that club.
Richard Schulz is an awesome photographer.
He uses real cameras. He writes and thinks about photos. He argued for the worth of the selfie a couple of weeks ago and I have no argument. Self portraits have made art meaningful since man was a monkey and painted crap on cave corners.
I believe.
The following photos are (not) really selfies. Or (self) portraits. Or (reflections) of my self (image). Or self (value) & (worth).
Just (kidding).
Everything I have ever been is (captured) in each and every one of these photos. I own my own.
To be my self I must see my self. To see my self I must own a phone and occasionally distract me-me with limited lenses and better than average photo filters. Here is a curated feed of seeing what I want to show you of me.
I am trying to see more of me.
Feed me.
Your writing is always a treat, but I also love these occasional photo album posts. The last photo "let sleeping dogs lie" is my fav. But also, hidden gem in here "“I do not paint a portrait to look like the subject, rather does the person grow to look like his portrait.” -Salvador Dali- This quote I am going to reuse as an argument for conscious storytelling. Stories inspire who we become more than who we are inspires stories.
